Bright Futures Future Not So Bright?

In Florida, many people are relying on the  Bright Futures scholarship program to pay for college.  The fact is, we are just not sure how long it can last.  Every year the requirements change.  They now require a FASFA to be filed, and in their own words, “No FASFA, No $”.

The only reason I can think of for them to require a FASFA is to see what economic bracket the recipients belong.  It could quickly go from a merit based scholarship to an income based one.  No one would admit it, of course,  but that is the Government for you!

Is the Government controlling your college decisions?  If you have a 529 plan, they control it!  When you file the FASFA for federal aid, they control it!  If you have earned the Bright Futures scholarship, they control that too!

If you would like to take your college savings, even your retirement savings (401K etc…) out of the Government’s control, let’s talk!
